SurfLink provides a seamless interface between MapInfo and Surfer for Windows. SurfLink integrates Surfer's powerful contouring with MapInfo, one of the most popular Geographic Information Systems (GIS) packages. Surfer provides the most powerful contouring capabilities in the software industry and is used in many disciplines including archaeology, ground-water hydrology, precision farming, soil science, and ecology. SurfLink steps you through the familiar Surfer interface so you can choose from Surfer's wealth of gridding and custom mapping options. SurfLink then prompts you for basic information such as data files, contour levels, and fill types necessary to create a custom color-filled contour map. You can also specify other information such as blanking boundaries, log transformation for filtering widely-varying data, a Surfer level (.LVL) file, a Surfer (.SET) file, etc. Once your Surfer contour map is created, SurfLink creates the necessary MapInfo contour tables, and in just seconds, your contour map is integrated with your MapInfo data. If you revise the contour map in Surfer, a few clicks of the mouse will quickly update the contour map in MapInfo. |

SurfLink takes you through a series of dialogs in creating a contour map. Cue cards are provided for first-time users. Advanced options such as rotating a contour map along any orientation, blanking portion of a contour map, and using Log transformation for filtering widely-varying data are also available. The contour lines and color fills are stored in separate MapInfo tables. |
